East Fallowfield Township currently has the the following open volunteer positions:
ZONING HEARING BOARD MEMBER - The Zoning Hearing Board consists of three members appointed by the Supervisors for three-year overlapping terms. The board’s decisions are not subject to the Supervisors’ authority. The Zoning Hearing Board deals with appeals when citizens allege that the Zoning Officer has followed the wrong procedures or misinterpreted the Zoning Ordinance. The board also hold hearings and makes decisions on appeals for special exceptions as defined in the Ordinance or for variances where special physical situations exist which cause undue hardship. Zoning Board meetings are open to the public and board decisions may be appealed to the Chester County Court of Common Pleas.
PARK & RECREATION COMMITTEE - The Park & Recreation Commission is an appointed government board of seven members charged with recommending to the board of Supervisors new recreation and park programs for the community, formulate policies for acquisition and development of the park; defining new objectives of public recreation services and make plans that harmonizes with those objectives. Duties also include keeping public officials informed of the status and progress of recreation services and working with the office and Road Crew on projects as they develop.
ELECTED AUDITOR - The elected auditors conduct the annual audit of township finances. However, the Board of Supervisors appoint an independent certified public accountant to perform the annual audit in place of the elected auditors. The elected auditors set the compensation, including paid time off, of any township supervisors that are employed by the township. HISTORICAL COMMISSION - The Historical Commission presently has an opening for any available residents who have an interest in local history and an interest in preserving our local historic resources and landscapes from unnecessary demolition or alteration, preserving them for the benefit of future generations. Interested parties should attend a meeting, held at 6:30 pm on the first Wednesday of each month, to meet the commission members and discuss their interest.
