ABOUT THE PLANNING COMMISSION

The Planning Commission is a panel of volunteer residents charged with facilitating individuals and organizations through the process of obtaining Township approval for proposed development, construction from the smallest subdivision to the largest. The Commission provides guidance to applicants and the Board of Supervisors to ensure each project is in compliance with local, state and federal government laws and regulations, as well as matters involving zoning, public safety, and utilities, such as water and sewer. The Commission also strives to aide and guide the applicants in maintaining the best interests of the residents in the evolution of Township development and growth.

The Planning Commission is an appointed government board charged with recommending to the Board of Supervisors the boundaries of the various original zoning district and appropriate regulations to be enforced therein and any proposed amendments thereto and shall collect data and keep itself informed as to the best practices generally in effect in the matter township planning and zoning to the end that it may be qualified to act on measures affecting the present and future movement of traffic, the segregation of residential and business districts and the convenience and safety of persons and property in any way dependent on township planning and zoning.
