PUBLIC NOTICE EAST FALLOWFIELD TOWNSHIP
NOTICE is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of East Fallowfield Township, Chester County will conduct a public meeting on September 24, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. during the regular Township Board of Supervisors meeting at the Township Building, located at 2264 Strasburg Road, East Fallowfield, PA 19320.
The meeting will be held in-person. The purpose of the public meeting is to receive comment and public testimony regarding the proposed ordinance entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF EAST FALLOWFIELD TOWNSHIP, CHESTER COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA TO PROMOTE THE USE OF REUSABLE BAGS, PROHIBIT THE USE OF SINGLE-USE CARRY-OUT PLASTIC BAGS,POLYSTYRENE FOOD CONTAINERS,AND SINGLE-USE PLASTIC STRAWS BY COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENTS,AND ESTABLISHING A CHARGE FOR THE PROVISION OF CERTAIN TYPES OF BAGS AT THE POINT OF SALE
In summary, the proposed ordinance adds a new Chapter, designed to encourage consumers and Commercial Establishments to reduce the use of single-use plastics, and to promote substitutes for polystyrene food containers and single-use plastic straws. The proposed ordinance defines the terms single-use carry-out plastic bag, produce bag or product bag,reusable bag, recyclable paper bag, polystyrene food container,single-use plastic straw, distribute or provide, and commercial establishment. This new Chapter restricts Commercial Establishments from providing Single-Use Carry-Out Plastic Bags, Produce Bags or Product Bags, or Reusable Bags to customers; The provision also allows customer to bring their own bags and allows for the sale of Reusable Bags.
The Board of Supervisors may consider enactment of the proposed ordinance at the public meeting. The full text of the proposed Ordinance is available for public inspection
