At its December 9, 2025 meeting, the East Fallowfield Township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the Township’s 2026 budget with no increase in real estate taxes in either the General Fund or the Fire/EMS Fund. This marks the eighth consecutive year without a General Fund tax increase, despite ongoing inflationary pressures.
The Township’s real estate tax rates will remain at 2.0 mills for the General Fund and 1.75 mills for the Fire/EMS Fund, and all funds are balanced in accordance with the Second Class Township Code. The annual trash fee will also remain unchanged at $450 for 2026.
“Township staff and the Board of Supervisors remain committed to fiscal responsibility while continuing to deliver the high level of service our residents expect,” said Township Manager Scott Swichar. “East Fallowfield continues to invest in public safety, infrastructure, and community amenities without increasing taxes.”
A homeowner with a property assessed at the Township average of $132,138 will pay approximately $495.52 in Township real estate taxes in 2026. The figure of $132,138 represents the average assessed value of a home in East Fallowfield Township. This is not the market value of a home. Actual Township real estate taxes vary by property, based on each homeowner’s individual tax assessment. As a result, some homeowners will pay less than $495.52 in Township real estate taxes, while others may pay more, depending on their assessed value.
Of every tax dollar paid by residents, only 7% supports Township services, while 83% goes to the Coatesville Area School District and 10% to Chester County.
Despite receiving just 7% of the overall tax dollar, East Fallowfield Township provides a wide range of essential services, including:
- 24/7 police protection and public safety
- 24/7 fire protection, ambulance service, and advanced life support
- Road maintenance, traffic improvements, and paving
- Parks, recreation facilities, and free community events
The Township continues to make significant investments in public safety by funding both Modena Fire Company and Westwood Fire Company for fire and EMS services, as well as setting aside funds annually for future capital purchases and equipment needs.
The 2026 budget also prioritizes infrastructure improvements, including:
- Culvert and drainage upgrades on Saw Mill Road
- Replacement of the collapsed bridge on Mortonville Road
- An aggressive $401,262 road paving program
- Improvements to the community pond at the Township park
To reduce the burden on taxpayers, the Township continues to pursue grant funding to support capital projects and address aging infrastructure.
Looking ahead, the Board of Supervisors is also planning for the future by evaluating the replacement of the Township’s outdated police station and administration building with a modern facility. To support this long-term goal, the 2026 budget includes a $1 million transfer to a newly established Municipal Building Fund.
The budget also includes funding for free public events, such as the Township’s annual summer concert series, which is entirely funded through local business sponsorships.
